Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle rental requirements:
- To hire a vehicle in Blackburn, you must be at least 21 years old, with age restrictions potentially varying based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence for the appropriate category, held for the minimum period outlined in the Rental Agreement, is required. Please present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations for car hire can be completed via our website, over the phone, or at our Blackburn office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through established payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage identified will be assessed and may incur additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level it had at collection; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Full details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability. It’s advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless further insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse, or any breach of these Terms, remains your responsibility, independent of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and how far in advance changes are requested. For precise information, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar dangerous practices is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting to unauthorized individuals, or permitting unapproved drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using the vehicle for unintended purposes, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and traveling beyond designated geographical boundaries without prior approval are also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Blackburn Car Hire disclaims any responsibility for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not surpass the amount you paid for your rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
